Carboretum Forever Forest
Marlborough property, home to rare native species, is protecting and enhancing native regeneration!
A remarkable 450 hectares of regenerating native bush are thriving in the heart of Marlborough! Of this, 96 hectares are registered in the ETS, actively enhancing native biodiversity and making a positive environmental impact. Another one-third of the property is secured in a covenant, further protecting the native forest.
Within the regenerating bush, ongoing native infilling and planting of totora has taken place across the property to boost native establishment.
This special area is also home to the rare Pink Broom (Carmichaelia carmichaeliae), a unique and threatened species found only in the Awatere and Wairau catchments of Marlborough. Through extensive pest control efforts targeting ungulates, such as deer and goats, the site has seen a vibrant resurgence of native vegetation with a rich variety of species.
Today, this landscape is a mix of native flora, fostering a healthy, diverse ecosystem that will continue to flourish for years to come in the Marlborough region.
